Works with Claude and ChatGPT

Edit your Overleaf LaTeX by talking to your AI

MiLatexAI connects Claude or ChatGPT to your real Overleaf projects over Git. Ask in plain language to read a section, rewrite the LaTeX, drop in a figure, or check that it still compiles — every change lands in Overleaf as a real Git commit you can see and revert.

Free plan: 1 project and 25 write-commits per month. Reads are always free.

Your Overleaf Git token is entered on a secure web form, encrypted at rest, and never appears in the chat. The full connector is open source on GitHub under the AGPL license, so you can audit exactly what it does.

Edit by conversation

Ask your AI to tighten an abstract, rewrite a paragraph, or clean up a proof. It reads and edits the actual LaTeX in your Overleaf project, not a copy.

Changes go straight to Overleaf

Edits are pushed to your project over Overleaf's Git integration, so your paper updates in place. No copy-pasting between a chat window and your editor.

Every write is a real Git commit

Each change is a genuine commit in your Overleaf history. You can see it, review the diff, and roll it back exactly like any other commit. Nothing happens silently.

Check that it compiles

Ask the AI to confirm your LaTeX still builds before you trust an edit, so you catch a broken \\begin or a missing brace now instead of at deadline.

Your token stays out of the chat

You paste your Overleaf Git token into a secure web form, never into the conversation. It is encrypted at rest and never written to the transcript.

Open source and auditable

The entire connector is public on GitHub under the AGPL license, so you can read precisely how it handles your token and your projects before trusting it.

From chat to committed in three steps

Connect once, then just talk to your AI.

  1. 1

Add the connector and sign in

Add MiLatexAI as a connector in Claude or ChatGPT and sign in with single sign-on, handled by WorkOS.

  2. 2

    Paste your Overleaf token securely

Run start_connect to get a one-time link to milatexai.com/connect, then paste your Overleaf Git token into the web form. It is encrypted immediately and never appears in the chat.

  3. 3

Ask the AI to edit your paper

In plain language, ask it to list files, read sections, rewrite LaTeX, add figures, or check that it compiles. Your changes are committed live to Overleaf.

Bring your own AI

MiLatexAI is a Model Context Protocol connector, so it works with the assistant you already use.

Claude

Add MiLatexAI as a connector in Anthropic's Claude and edit your Overleaf projects from any Claude conversation.

ChatGPT

Add MiLatexAI as a connector in OpenAI's ChatGPT and do the same there — same projects, same commits, same Overleaf history.

Built to touch as little as possible

Exactly what MiLatexAI stores, and what it deliberately doesn't.

Your token is encrypted

Overleaf Git tokens are encrypted at rest with authenticated encryption, and are entered on a web form rather than in the chat.

We don't store your documents

MiLatexAI keeps only your account email, your encrypted token, and a monthly commit counter — never the contents of your LaTeX files.

Only the projects you connect

Access is limited to the specific Overleaf projects you choose to connect. Nothing else in your account is reachable.

Open source, run on Azure

The code is public on GitHub under the AGPL license, sign-in runs through WorkOS AuthKit, and the service is hosted on Microsoft Azure in the Canada region.

Questions researchers ask

Is my Overleaf token safe?

You paste your token into a secure web form at milatexai.com/connect, never into the chat. It is encrypted at rest with authenticated encryption and is never written into the conversation transcript.

Can you see my documents?

We don't store your document contents. MiLatexAI reads and edits your files in the moment to carry out a request, but the only things we keep are your account email, your encrypted Overleaf token, and a monthly commit counter.

Which AI assistants does it work with?

Both Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's ChatGPT. MiLatexAI is a Model Context Protocol connector, so you add it in whichever assistant you already use.

What happens if I hit the 25-commit limit?

Reads always stay free and unlimited. Once you reach 25 write-commits in a month on the Free plan, you can wait for the counter to reset next month or move to Pro when it launches for unlimited commits.

Is it really open source?

Yes. The full source code is public on GitHub under the AGPL license, so you can audit exactly what the connector does before you trust it with your projects.

Can I disconnect or delete my data?

Yes. You can disconnect a project at any time, and you can ask us to delete your stored token and account details. Because we don't store your documents, disconnecting stops all access immediately.

Does it touch projects I didn't connect?

No. MiLatexAI only accesses the specific Overleaf projects you connect with the token you provide. It has no visibility into anything else in your Overleaf account.

Will my changes show up in Overleaf history?

Yes. Every write is a real Git commit pushed over Overleaf's Git integration, so it appears in your project history where you can review the diff or revert it.
